Daily Blogger October 31 Stephanie

Ugh school again, I keep thinking but wait its Thursday! Almost the end of the week! I’m so pumped because tomorrow is Halloween too. When the bell of first period rings it is time to get my brains on because it is reading time. Meaning lots of study because we have a big unit test coming up. As time flies by I can’t wait until second period because I really want to know what I got on my Mexico test! I thought it was pretty easy because it was basically about Spanish.
As 2 hours have gone by fast my next period is English. In English today my class got assigned this writing assignment where each student has to write a complimentary letter to an author that they have read about, that is either dead or alive. I really like this assignment because it lets people know what kinds of books each person likes and how that book changed that person’s life.

I hope that tomorrow will be a fun day, just like any other day. I’m looking forward to having another best year of Halloween, and I expect that you have one of the greatest Halloween’s ever. This was my second daily blogger of the year and thanks for reading!

Daily Blogger October 30th By: Haylee Kaufman

Today as I walked into school I got all of my books and headed to reading. When I got to reading class, we all sat down and worked on our vocabulary workbooks; we worked on them for about five minutes. Then the bell rang. After the bell rang we all stood up and said, “the pledge.” When the pledge was over, we sat down and Mrs. Morrow told us to get out our workbooks out. We had to go from pages 48-54 by the end of class was over. After reading was over, I packed up my stuff and headed out the door, it was cold out side.
Finally! It was English class, my favorite class of the day. As I got into the classroom, I had to pick up our box for our table because this week I'm the table leader. As I grab the box I took it to my table and handed out our folders. Finally all of us get sat down and get ready to listen to Mrs. Troester tell us our agenda of the day. Mrs. Troester told us that we were going to start our prewriting today, but first we had to answer the four questions on the word document that we had started to outline our pre-write. The first thing we did today was work on explaining not complimenting in our pre-writes. The table leaders stood up and read a paragraph and the students had to answer if they thought it was explaining or corresponding. After all said and done we had 20 minutes of class left and Mrs. Troester told us that we could start our pre-write?

After my day was all said and done for schoolwork anyways we got to head to basketball practice. The girls and got dressed and shoes put on and came into the gym, grabbed a basketball, and started shooting around. After all 12 of the girls came into the gym Mrs. Dean had us come and sit down and she took role to see if everyone was here. Once she checked to see if everyone was here she put us into one group of 5 and one group of 6 because I was supposed to be in the group of 5 but I cant play still for a few weeks because I have tendonitis in my foot so I'm supposed to stay off of it, but I can still walk on it I just can’t run or jump. I sat off to the side on the stage and watched the girls do the drills they were supposed to do. After basketball was all over at 4:05 I went home and got ready for tonight because we had church. After all my day turned out to be pretty except the fact that I can’t practice for basketball for a couple of weeks still.

Today in English class we learned and found out that we are interning a writing contest, and we have to write about our favorite book and it has to be some ware from 300 words to 1000 words. We also finished our complex sentences.
In 3rd period science we did our trivia and started to work on our projects the project its about out backyard and all of the habitats and populations. We have to have twenty vocab words. That’s about all we did in science
In 6th period S.S studies we are learning about Mexico and their illegal drug trade with the U.S. and how they have states like us and we also learned some Mexican words and phrases.

So that was my summery of the day see you next

10/27/14 Daily Blogger By: Sonia

This morning started off slow. Although I felt really tired from our long weekend, I came to school with a smile on my face. Today in English class we went over the agenda. On the agenda we had to finish a quiz over compound and simple sentences, we then would work on complex sentences, and if we had time we would talk about the writing contest we have. I felt good about the quiz; I found compound and simple sentences easy. Now, we have complex sentences that are even easier! My class got done with the front page over complex sentences right when the bell rang.
My next class was history, and we had to present our presentation over a subject. I was nervous because I had a feeling I was going to present, and I didn’t know if my presentation was good. We were all waiting for Nate’s presentation to be presented; his presentation was not loading, so Hannah Sidak presented. I enjoyed everyone’s presentation, but then Dennis’s presentation didn’t load so I had to go. The presentation seem to last forever. Finally, the presentation was over; Dennis had to present his. Out of all the presentations I think Dennis’s presentation was the funniest.
The rest of the day was really boring until I got to science. In science I think we have really good talks about what we are learning. We didn’t get done with our reading though. For, my seventh period class I have Agriculture. In AG. we also have to do a presentation; we have to write about something that interest or we want to know more about that was mentioned in the chapter we read. P.E was my last class but nothing interesting there, so this is what happened today.

Daily Blogger Oct. 23 By Whitney

Hey blogger it is my turn to write again. In English we worked on the publish or present stage of our writing. To make sure it was done we had a checklist. When your done you got on blogger, and read other peoples blog post.
In Gym everyone had to go to basketball. We did our ball handling; we also did some scrimmaging in groups of four. At the end we had to get into groups for conditioning. Sonia and Kiara were in my group.

Over all I had a fun day. I will write to you again.

personal narrative

When I was about 12, my sister Taylor and I were walking through the woods by our uncle’s. We were having fun exploring when we found this sinkhole full of mud I had the best idea ever.
While we were standing and just watching it, I scooped a handful and through it at her head. NAILED IT!!!
So she runs at me and I was thinking stop drop and roll to make her trip. I did it; she fell in it making her angrier. So as she was chasing me I jumped the creek and made it she didn’t. So she picked up a stick then wham right in the back of my head what ran through my head was what just happened what hit so I just got up and ran.
I was a little bit dizzy after wards so I ran to mom. The first question I get did you deserve it?
I learned to run faster in a situation like that.

Daily Blog-10/22/14-Alison D.

This morning was a little different we had a catch up day in reading. Once we were done with make up work we worked on our workbooks. Then in science class we did the usual and then somebody’s phone started to ring. It was funny because it was right in the middle of class.
Then came English class; we started off with revising sentences. We then talked about adding dialog and creating better lead sentences. I had my lead and dialog done the day before so then I had to work on feedback for Canvas. It was hard to give feedback when the people had great detail and minimal mistakes.

Finally came basketball practice. We started off with the P.E. kids. Then we had to stop practice for the pep rally. The pep rally was really fun and cool; that was my first pep rally this year. When the pep rally was over we started practice again. For conditioning at the end we had to do five-one. That ended my school day.

Personal Narrative By: Chuy (Bad Season)

My first football practice, I am ready to see if I am good. I walk up the Fairbury junior-high stairs up to the practice field, and the whistle blew. “Ok guys lets get into two lines.” Next he teaches us the routes to run and to do sharp cut angles.
We did that and got to know everyone that was all on the team. The next day of practice the coach had put us in a position that might be good for us. We tried our position and we kept moving the ones that weren’t good at that position. The next practice we did just the same for a week. Finally we got our football pads, and started doing tackling drills.
Then, the next day we got schedules, and our first game is coming up in two weeks. One of the coaches that is my health teacher comes up and told me that I was about to fail his class. Then I just started working hard. Sadly the next week came and I was failing, so I wasn’t going to play in the first game.
Now after the first few games that I didn’t get to play in, because of my grades the team won the first three out of ten. The coaches were very, very mad. The next thing that the coaches had us do is to go and lift weights during the end of practice and we do that every other day. Every day I tried to get better at football and my schoolwork, but I just didn’t get it.
Now it was the end of the season and the last game I finally get to play, but I only got to play for two and a half quarter. Now next year I will get help on my homework then.

Daily Blogger Oct.20 By Hannah S.

The day was pretty good so far, reading was my first class; then I moved on to English. In English class, we worked on peer revising each other's essays. My essay was about a four wheeler I got for Christmas when I was six. I worked really hard on that essay; I put a ton of work into it.

After I got through my morning classes, I went to lunch. I was surprised to find my mom had come to visit me. She lives in Grand Island so it really shocked me. We talked until lunch was over; then I went to science class. After science I had to go to my new quarter class which is career guidance. We did a survey in there about drugs and alcohol.

After that class we went to volleyball practice. We worked on positions, serving, and hitting. When we finished practice, we walked to the elementary school. We were pumped and ready to win our last game. We worked hard, so it was sure to pay off. We won, 25 to 14. Im sad that its over. Tomorrow we start basketball.

What a tiring feeling going through the fifth day of the school week with no break! It has been a tiring week due to harvest. I don’t get home until late night, and then I wake up early to do chores. I am so ready for this weekend.

In English we finally started our memoir draft. I am writing about a six-hour drive that we took that lasted until 2 in the morning! We have to finish it over the weekend; in my opinion homework over your weekend is horrid.

Tonight we have to do the junior high marching band for the last senior game of the year. I don’t think we are ready and will be lucky just to pull through. We will all do our best and try to impress the watchful crowd.

Daily Blogger October 15 by Heydon

Today in the riveting class of English we went over the writing process and personal narratives. We were assigned to read some personal narrative examples and fill out a sheet on them. Some of the things done in the narratives were completely idiotic. There was one narrative, entitled "The Lawn Mower Accident", that showed that people don't really respect other people's possessions.

When we started talking about the writing process, we had to throw all of our knowledge into a dumpster. Once that was done we had to put all of the knowledge that the teacher provided us with, which was previously known, into little boxes.

In band today we worked on our marching show that we will perform on Friday. I have a feeling that our show won't be the most spectacular, because we haven't had enough time to practice. If we try our best though, we might actually get a few claps from the audience.

Today was a very busy day. I knew it was going to be a busy day because Friday was the end of our quarter. I like having all A’s so I had to get all my homework on time for the teachers to put in the grades. To start the day off, I had reading, and then came English. I was nervous that I was going to have a lot of homework. I had missed Wednesday because I was at the District FFA Livestock Judging Contest. It turns out I placed second in the Jr. High division with around two hundred kids.

In English, we started the day off by reviewing the steps to pre-write, revise, proof-read, edit, and publishing or presenting your draft. I kind of thought I was lost since I didn’t know what they were talking about, but I eventually caught on. Later on the kids who did not pass the compound sentence strategy had to do two C. Luckily I passed and didn’t have to do that. Towards the end of the day we needed to brainstorm for our memoirs. After we had brainstormed up some ideas, we shared them. I chose to write about when I rode with my dad putting out a fire.

In band today, we were putting on the finishing touches for our marching show. Our show is this Friday. It is also the last home game for the high school football players, so I’m excited to go watch and march. I think we have the music down pretty well, but I think we need to just be at the right spots at the right time. Also tonight I am going to go to the volleyball game and watch the girls play. Most of the reason why I’m going is because my brother is playing pep band. I will be glad to have  his week behind me and hope you all have a great weekend.

Daily Blogger Oct. 14 By Taryn S.

It was a great Tuesday here at OHS. The kids were glad that Monday was over. The day started with reading class. We went through our reading schedule, did vocabulary, and did our lit circles. After that I went to science and worked on my science project which was quite boring. Finally science ended, and I headed off to English. Today in English we read four personal narratives and answered a few questions about them. We also took a test on compound sentences. We didn’t do much in English today.
When school ended, everyone wondered home to be lazy or work on homework. I went home to do homework. Faith came over to work on our science project, which I think is turning out pretty good. After we finished our homework, we decided to go for a walk. When we returned home, she left and my day came to an end.

Today was a long and tiring Tuesday which seemed to have no end. I am glad I got through this Tuesday witch kind of seemed like a Monday. I hope everyone made it through the day also. Happy Tuesday everyone.

Daily Blogger By Decemberlyn 10-14-14 Final

“Mom! Mom! she is going to pour water on me!” I hear my brother yelling from his bedroom.
This is Decemeberlyn Kilcoin. It is October 14, 2014, and I am about to share my day with you. Don’t you just hate when your eyes pop open, and your alarm hasn’t even gone off yet? That’s how my morning started. Then, almost simultaneously, my alarm goes off and I hear my brother yelling from his room. You see my brother is deaf, so when he yells it is ear piercing. I jumped out of my bed and stumbled to his room. There I see my sister attempting to pour water on my brother. I ask her what she thinks she is doing? She rolls her eyes at me and says, “He won’t get up.” Finally, mom comes and gets him going. Once I get dressed, we head to school.
My mom drops my older brother, Dawson and I off at school. Dawson heads off in one direction, and I head to my locker. I put my gym bag in my locker, and pull out my textbooks that I will need for the day. Then I head to my first class with Mrs. Kelly. I drop my stuff by her door, and walk down the hallway to breakfast, and pray it doesn’t suck.
Ding, Goes the bell.  I hurry off to Mrs. Kelly’s room. She is my reading  teacher. We usually read a chapter from our book but today we had a test. If we finished before class was done we were supposed to work on book study. Well, no one got done, So Mrs. Kelly said we will just have to finish it tomorrow. Ding, the bell rings and I head to Mr. Morrow’s class. He is my science teacher. We are working on ecosystems and life science. Class went pretty fast and then ding goes the bell, again. I head to Mrs. Treoster, and Mrs. Babl’s class. They are my English teachers. We took a quiz, easy peasy, only five questions. Then we looked at murals and did a worksheet on it. Ding goes the bell, and I head to my next class. So, there is how my day goes untill finally, DING!
Final Bell, the best sounding ding, the ding that says school is done for this day, October 14, 2014. This is Decemberlyn Kilcoin and this is a day in my life.

Daily Blog by Lilly 10/14/14

As any other I started my day by waking up late, arriving at school late, and looking lazy. As I hurriedly rushed to reading running late as always I ran in the classroom just as time to beat the bell. Today in 1st period we worked on our vocabulary to start the period off. Then, we were doing this thing called Literature Circles; it is a group of kids who read a book. The book my group got assigned was “Wonder”.  Each Tuesday and Thursday we meet with our groups and talk about the pages we read.
I walked into English class with a smile on my face. First, we had to download personal narratives that the 9th graders wrote last year. Then Mrs. Babl said we had to take a quiz about compound sentences. I was a little scared when I heard the word “quiz”, but it turned out to be really simple, phew. After our quiz, Mrs. Trestor said we had to read the document we downloaded about personal narratives and answer a few questions about them. That’s what we did in English class today.

I am really looking forward to playing in the Ewing volleyball tournament this weekend. My team got 1st last weekend at the West Holt tournament, and we have a really good chance of winning this tournament also. It is a little bitter sweet to think my 8th grade volleyball season is coming to an end. We have had a really good season and I can’t wait till next year!

Hey this is Decemberlyn today is October 10, 2014 my day started off with me laying there in my bed staring at my ceiling, and then my alarm goes off. I get up get ready for school. Then on the other hand there is my little bother he is deaf so he dose not know how loud he is speaking so when he yells it is more like a scream and he is in his room laying in his bead laying down screaming “MOM MOM SHE IS GOING TO POUR WATER ON ME” I walk in his room and my sister is trying to pour water on him because he would not get up, and get ready.
When I get to school I go to my locker put my gym bag in my locker and then get my textbooks I need for the day. Then I go drop my stuff of by the door of my first class. My first class is reading with Mrs. Kelly. Then I go get some breakfast. Then I go sit in the lounge and read my book for reading.
Ding the bell rings, I walk into class Mrs. Kelly is Reading the objective and to get our binders and do warm up when the bell rings. In reading we almost read a whole chapter in our book, but we had to take this test thing. We did that for the rest of the period if you got done you were supposed to work on book study, but nobody got done so we are going to finish tomorrow. Book study is where you read a book and then you have to do a packet on it or something like that.
Second period I have science with Mr. Morrow. When I walk in the class there was only like three people in there when everybody got in the class and sat down. Mr. Morrow Started reading the objective then he started to talk about ecosystems. After he was done talking we worked on our ibooks. We are doing these ibooks on Ecosystems and life science.
Ding bell rings I am in my seat ready to learn I am in Mrs. Treoster and Mrs. Babl’s class (English).  We started off with a quiz there were five questions. The quiz was about Ic,I and I;I. After that we looked at some murals and we had this worksheet and we filled out the worksheet on a couple of the murals. That is all we did in English class.
That is part of my day not all but part of it. I guess it was not bad but it could have been better. All of these classes have not been bad but I think English class has been the best so far today. Writing this was not that bad I guess I kind of liked writing this.

Daily Blog 10/13/14 By Faith Walton

Strolling though the doors you could tell it was Monday. Everyone seemed tired, unhappy and mainly didn't want to be here. First period and I already feel behind. I was gone Thursday and Friday because I am a student manager for our OHS softball team, and we went to district softball in Wisner. Sadly we didn't make it to state this year.
In English today we talked about how to write a memoir. To help us understand we read a memoir about a girl form the Dominican Republic who finally didn't have to go to summer school for the first time. To her disappointment they had to move to America because of the new dictator. Then we discussed how we could improve our daily bloggers. We could fix them by fixing our title and by adding a picture to our blog.

Last Tuesday was parent teacher conferences so in each class you saw every student striving to get better grades before report cards. Now things are starting to go back to normal at OHS.  Everyone survived Monday Oct. 13, 2014.

Daily Blogger 10 - 14 - 14 by Ashley

Hi, today in we have to wrote memoirs in English, I am hoping it would be fun to do. I am ready for it because I can talk about my littlest sister being born on August 19th at 8:10 I guess. I don’t really know what time she was born. I guessing right now. She weight 8oz 18 ½ inches long.

Later on today, I will be in P.E. because I love to exercise.  After P.E, I have to walk my  dog everyday once a day. I like him because he is afraid of cars because he will scoot over for cars.

I am glad that I am getting to do Daily Blogger

I walked into the school rubbing my hands together trying to get them warm (unsuccessfully). I rode my bike to school, so I was extra cold. First period is reading. Today we read the story “The Treasure of Lemon Brown”; it was a pretty good story in my opinion. After reading is geography. Personally I like Mr. Hostert’s geography class. It’s always fun, and it’s not just reading and doing worksheets.
Next was English my 3rd period class. In English today we we're doing a compound sentence assignment. I’m really bad at sentences. After this we gave feedback on canvas so the day dragged on and I kept on a trucking.
At the end of the day is one of the only things I enjoy about my day at school, football. Today in football we ran thunder dome a.k.a. Oklahoma drill. I made a lot of good hits. I got hit hard a few times. After practice I went and got my hair cut. Y

So today i am the daily blogger and i am supposed to describe what has been going on. Which honestly is nothing. But today i am supposed to tell you about my life so hi, i am Maddie.

Right now we have been working on canvas, which is a website where we share our writing with other students from other schools. In my opinion i think it is kind of fun.

Yesterday the girls and I had a volley ball game, and guess who scored the winning point to have the tie breaker game! ME! I did it!!! XD But a few days ago i went to lincoln and I'm also going today to see my dad.

So that is what we have been doing at O'Neill High School. Goodbye and have a fun week!

10-9-14 Daily Blog by Khobe

Hi I’m Khobe.  Today in English class we gave feedback and did a worksheet. Mrs. Babl and Mrs. Troaster had us finish Monday’s worksheet. Then after that we have to give feedback.
Next in math we did a review. We did the review on what we just learned and did the test on.  Half way through the day I got extremely tired. In study hall it was quiet and every one worked nicely.

The last thing I did was football practice. It was really fun hitting people. Then I went home and did homework. This is my first blog.  Hope you like it and peace out you guys and girls.

Thursday, October 9, 2014

This week is sort of a short week because of parent teacher conferences; we basically only have Monday, Thursday, and Friday. I was kind of happy when I heard this because on when I got to school I was pretty tired. I couldn’t believe that state Cross Country is on Saturday in Omaha, so hopefully I place.

Today I went to school after a long weekend and went into reading which is my first period. We went over our assignment over the book that we are done reading. The name of the book is American Born Chinese. When lunch came around, I had some kind of taco sandwich. Then when practice came around we ran two miles.

After school and practice I went home and rested. Well that was my week,
Tyler… over and out!

Daily Blogger 10-6-14 by Kiara

Hello there I am Kiara I am the daily blogger for today. In English today we talked about are strength and improvements. We also did a sentence writing strategy worksheet 2A. As a class we only got half way through the work sheet. It is pretty interesting how there are so many nouns and verbs.
Today in Math we took a quiz when other people were done they would talk. It would distract me. If I had to take a test with every one talking I would be so distracted that I wouldn’t be able to do any of the test.
In are science class Today there was not that many people so we just worked on other homework after Mr.Haveranek checked are comic life. We were all working but at the same time wee were talking. Then we were talking about we should have all girls one day and then all boys the other day.

That was most of my day for Monday October 6, 2014. Can’t wait for tomorrow because we don’t have school. Oh, and also we do mot have school on Wednesday oh yes.

Oct 3 Daily Blogger by Tye Hilker

This week was Homecoming at O’Neill High School. Homecoming is probably the best week at OHS. It is always a lot of fun. I came to school in blue and white because Friday’s theme was school pride day. At 2:25 we would find out who had been best dressed for the week.
In English on Friday we worked on publishing our Problem Solution paper to Canvas. The Problem Solution paper was a paper that we wrote to explain the problem we have in our school about study hall. Our problem is that some kids don’t have as much time as others in study hall because they have band or choir. We also had to make our Author’s Note for this piece of writing.
It was the last day of the Homecoming week so that means that there was a game that night. After practice I went got ready for the game. We had to play the Valentine Badgers. The Eagles ended up winning by two points! This was the highlight of the week for me and most of the football players and coaches.
That is most of the highlights that happened on Friday. Homecoming was great and I can’t wait until next year’s Homecoming!

Oct.1 Daily Blog by Derrek Babutzke

October 1 2014 is a very interesting day for Homecoming week because there is a lot of stuff that goes on. But the day started as a boring old day because we went to reading and finished the movie The Pact for our book and studied vocabulary. Then we went off to science and worked on our project
In English we did a page and wrote about the lunch time solutions project. Math was the same as usual – doing an assignment and taking notes. In study hall it was cut short by 15 minutes - not much but I liked it. Then I went and ate lunch.

Now the fun started! We started decorating the halls with paper and streamers and every thing you could imagine. Next we had Eagle Olympics; there was lots of pride and competition between all of the grades organized. Then we still had to go to football practice; we still had lots of fun in practice. I was finally glad to go home and relax after all of the yelling and screaming and practicing hard, but it was a good day to be an Eagle!
